Scalability Wins! – Why to Go Multicore

Abstract:

What is behind Multicore and what is so interesting about it? Why do we need it, since you can look at it as a special system on chip? What advantages and disadvantages do we get and why does scalability play such an important role? Answers to those questions will be presented and effects will be illustrated by an example from the medical domain.
